Peer-Reviews & Evaluation

We were assigned two classmates to peer-review their final visual. I had to review two videos; one of them being an animation.  It was a very interesting experience as I had to analyze work that was not mine. This gave me a new perspective on how to review my own work as I learnt how to critique to the tiniest detail. In my evaluation, I read through the peer reviews that I was given and I analyzed what they said from my point of view. This experience was very eye-opening as I learned a lot from the critiques I was given.

Third Presentation

During the final presentation, I showcased the revised storyboard and the mood board that inspired the video. After that, I showcased the final video.  After that, I explained the justification. In the justification I wanted to explain why I did what I did when it comes to the storyboard, mood board, and the video itself.

Justification

The storyboard was changed from the previous presentation. The reasoning behind it was that the previous storyboard was too direct in correlation to the theme. The new storyboard is like the last story however, there were a few changes. Although there are a few changes, the storyline emphasises the theme without being too direct. The mood board was inspired by the storyboard. I wanted to add elements that would be shown in the video. I wanted to add photos that inspired the storyline; someone stressed and then scared of the outcome. The video contains a blue hue to emphasise the stressed and then sad state the subject finds himself in. Close-ups are used frequently to gauge his emotions. This whole concept was inspired by expressionism. This movement was inspired by the social crisis that was going on in the European Middle Ages. The art that was produced from this movement showed qualities of fear and horror. I focused on the fear factor of this movement and from there the themes were...

Storyboard & Mood Board

For the final task, I changed the storyboard before filming. This is because I felt like the first narrative was as too literal and direct to my theme.  The mood board was inspired by the movie ‘Twilight’. I wanted to create that blue hue on my final product in order to give that stressed emotion that I wanted the subject to convey.

Second Presentation

Throughout the presentation, I showed my sketches and my storyboard. I explained the reasoning as to why I did not choose certain sketches as my final drafts.  I also explained why I chose the colours that I used in my sketches and why I chose those particular pictures and symbols. I explained the narrative of the storyboard and how it relates to my theme. I also said that my visual will be the filming of this storyboard.

Storyboard

I wanted to create a video as my visual to represent my theme ‘The Uncertainty of Life’. The storyboard shows a subject who has recently graduated from school. He is now on the journey of securing a job in his graduate field. However, upon looking for a job, he realises that his field provides various categories to work in. He finds himself overwhelmed with the choice and has no idea which is the right one for him.

Sketches for Two-Page Spread

Image
I created four different sketches for my two-page spread before I decided on the final spread. The above picture was my first attempt at the two-page spread. It was quite plain and not really what I had in mind. The second draft was very different when it came to the layout, colours, and where the text was placed. Although this was different from what I wanted, it was a step in the right direction. The third draft was getting closer to the final product. The question mark taking up the whole page was my favorite so I knew I wanted to change that. The final draft was the best version out of all the sketches I had done however, I wanted to change a bit of layout one more time. After adding a few touch-ups, this is the version that I came up with for the two-page spread. The orange colour was inspired by the colour pallet that I had created. I wanted to use a colour that fits the theme the best. The bold text was used to draw attention to the readers on what the topic is about. The photo ...
