Sketches + Mood Board

Now that I selected a second theme, I wanted to visualise this theme with sketches. I created four sketches that best represented my theme.


Once the sketches were complete, it was time for a mood board to be drawn up. After much research, I found that the art of expressionism fits my theme quite well. The use of contrasting colours and a very distracting and disorienting image encapsulated what a very unclear future must feel for a person. Therefore, I used a few paintings from this movement. I also created a colour pallet which consists of contrasting colours to further symbolise my theme. I also used lyrics from an Adele song that show the struggles one might face when one's future is unclear.

For the final task, I changed the storyboard before filming. This is because I felt like the first narrative was as too literal and direct to my theme.  The mood board was inspired by the movie ‘Twilight’. I wanted to create that blue hue on my final product in order to give that stressed emotion that I wanted the subject to convey.

Sketches for Two-Page Spread

I created four different sketches for my two-page spread before I decided on the final spread. The above picture was my first attempt at the two-page spread. It was quite plain and not really what I had in mind. The second draft was very different when it came to the layout, colours, and where the text was placed. Although this was different from what I wanted, it was a step in the right direction. The third draft was getting closer to the final product. The question mark taking up the whole page was my favorite so I knew I wanted to change that. The final draft was the best version out of all the sketches I had done however, I wanted to change a bit of layout one more time. After adding a few touch-ups, this is the version that I came up with for the two-page spread. The orange colour was inspired by the colour pallet that I had created. Second Presentation

Throughout the presentation, I showed my sketches and my storyboard. I explained the reasoning as to why I did not choose certain sketches as my final drafts.  I also explained why I chose the colours that I used in my sketches and why I chose those particular pictures and symbols. I explained the narrative of the storyboard and how it relates to my theme. I also said that my visual will be the filming of this storyboard.
